The University of Mount Olive Athletics Communications Department invites applications for a Graduate Assistant – Athletics Communications position. This opportunity is designed for individuals seeking to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) while gaining valuable experience in collegiate athletics communications, media relations, content creation, and event management.
Position Overview
The Graduate Assistant will assist the Athletics Communications staff in promoting the University's athletic programs through digital media, statistical reporting, event coverage, and storytelling. This position provides hands-on experience in NCAA Division II athletics and is ideal for candidates pursuing careers in sports communications, media relations, marketing, or athletic administration.
This assistantship requires a two-year commitment and is contingent upon acceptance into the MBA program at University of Mount Olive, beginning August 1, 2026.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in athletics communications, sports information, journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
Familiarity with social media management and content creation.
Experience with photography, graphic design, video production, or livestreaming platforms is beneficial.
Knowledge of collegiate athletics and NCAA competition.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Apply to and be accepted into the University of Mount Olive MBA program.
Maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout the assistantship.
Possess strong written, verbal, and organizational skills.
Demonstrate proficiency with social media platforms and digital communication tools.
Have the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by athletic event schedules.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist with the promotion and coverage of University athletic programs.
Write game recaps, feature stories, press releases, and other athletics-related content.
Manage and update athletics website content.
Assist with social media planning, content creation, and engagement.
Compile and maintain statistics for athletic contests.
Support game-day operations, including media relations and live event coverage.
Coordinate photography, video, and multimedia content initiatives.
Assist with conference and NCAA reporting requirements.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletics Communications staff.
