The Trevecca Nazarene University Athletic Media Relations Office, located in Nashville, Tennessee, is seeking applications for the position of Graduate Assistantship. A full tuition waiver and a 10K stipend are offered for this position (which can be renewed for a second academic year).
Two Positions Available
Trevecca is looking for two GAs - one with a video content-intensive focus and one general media relations focus.
Introduction:
We seek someone who desires to grow or enhance their athletics media relations, broadcasting, creative, or marketing skillsets.
While we allow our graduate assistants to serve in all areas, we desire to place them in a specific area of responsibility to lead in, ideally an area they are already strong in, while they assist in areas they want to enhance.
While working in our NCAA Division II program, you'll get hands-on experience in the areas you desire to hone or develop, helping you create a resume with demonstrated expertise.
Whether you are looking for opportunities in social media content creation, graphic creation, website building, writing engaging stories, photography, video production, and all areas of game broadcasts - we welcome hearing from you.
If you'd like to pursue this career growth opportunity while also living in Nashville, where you'll have a chance to network with other media and collegiate professionals, we look forward to considering you for one of our positions.
Resumes and work examples are welcome now, with the position to be filled by June 30, 2023. Looking for a start date in August 2023.
Interested candidates should follow up by submitting their resume with a brief email that includes an assessment of the Trevecca athletic website and social media platforms (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram) with positive and constructive observations.
Responsibilities include assisting the SID office with promoting and publicity of Trevecca's 16 varsity sports. Opportunities to gain or further experience in graphic design, writing, and editing game stories; posting stories and statistics to the website and helping with general website maintenance; communicating with opposing sports information offices and with the area and national media; reporting statistics to the conference and national offices; assisting in creating engaging content for the athletic department's social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube); updating record books and historical files; helping maintain and update the athletic department's photo galleries; other duties as assigned could include video broadcasting and video content production.
Requirements:
A bachelor's degree is required and a successful candidate must be accepted into one of Trevecca's graduate programs (Master of Business Administration, Master of Organizational Leadership, etc.). The graduate assistant must work many hours associated with the sports information profession, including nights and weekends. Therefore, candidates should possess strong communication and writing skills, be comfortable handling multiple projects and assignments at once, be able to complete tasks on deadlines, and have a working knowledge of public relations and collegiate sports with a general understanding of sports (soccer, volleyball, Cross Country/Track & Field, basketball, baseball, softball, stunt, and golf). Knowledge and experience of the Genius Statistical Software, Adobe Creative (Photoshop, Lightroom/Bridge) Suite, other photo or graphic creation software, and any video editing software is not required but advantageous.
