D’Youville University, an NCAA Division II provisional member, is seeking a Director of Athletic Communications to assist in covering all 19 Saints’ sports. Under routine supervision, the Director of Athletic Communications is responsible for assisting in the overall oversight, development, and review of all information as it relates directly, and indirectly, to the day-to-day happenings in intercollegiate athletics at D’Youville College. The Director of Athletic Communications promotes, through all media means, the Department of Athletics, its coaching staff, and its student athletes.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Web site maintenance via SIDEARM (adding schedules, rosters and headshots to team pages)
Assisting with home game day responsibilities which includes:
Setting up live stream and scorer’s table
Using NCAA LiveStats and/or PrestoStats to input stats or serve as the spotter
Sending postgame files to the opposing SID and uploading XML to our website
Writing and disseminating postgame recaps
Creation of gameday and final score graphics through ScoreShots
Attend away from home conference championships (ECC), regional and national competitions.
Manage inventory of designated media related content – print, photo, web, video, records, statistics, awards and all other athletically related content – for media and historical records needs.
Manage and schedule designated team media days to include team and individual photos, interviews, video content and any other media related needs.
Assist in the supervision and training of Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant and interns. Graduate Assistants and interns are an important element in the overall success of the department’s media tasks and performances.
Assist in after-hour activities as needed to accomplish goals.
Attend selective fundraising events related to Athletic goals.
Maintain and meet deadlines.
Attend staff meetings.
Seek and accept training to enhance or learn new skills.
Efficiently collaborate and communication well with all department personnel.
Two years of relevant experience.
Strong administrative and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
Possess an excellent understanding of the D'Youville mission and the Athletic Departments mission.
Ability to work non-traditional business hours including evenings, weekends and holidays when necessary.
Ability to receive telephone calls, respond to inquiries and communicate with others by telephone in an efficient manner
Ability to execute managerial techniques, leadership training, and appropriate team operation.
Knowledge of appropriate computer programs as they relate to the position
