This offers an opportunity for an ethnic minority and/or female to be chosen for a unique internship program, renewable for a second year. The hired candidate will supplement day-to-day coverage of Otterbein’s 21 varsity sport programs along with other media, communication and PR tasks throughout the Athletic Department.

The position serves as the primary assistant in the Sports Information Office, helping oversee the writing of press releases and feature stories, keeping/archiving statistics, updating otterbeincardinals.com, managing and creating social media content, photography, compiling photo galleries, reporting to and building relationships with the Ohio Athletic Conference and NCAA, moderating press conferences, serving as a liaison between Athletics and other departments on campus, becoming an active member of CoSIDA, engaging with alumni, etc.  

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university.
Applicants must have work experience in a related field. They must have strong interpersonal
and organizational communication.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must demonstrate professional level oral and written communications
skills including grammar.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be competent in general math.

TECHNICAL SKILLS: Demonstrated experience with technologies such as Adobe Creative Suite,
Microsoft Office, NCAA Genius, Presto Sports, StatCrew, etc.

REASONING ABILITY: Possess the attitude, manners and patience to handle complaints or
difficult circumstances, particularly situations that might arise with fans, parents, opposing
schools, etc.
