Mary Baldwin University is searching for a Graduate Assistant for the Sports Information Office.

The Graduate Assistant reports directly to the Sports Information Director and will contribute to all aspects of MBU sports information including, but is not limited to, compiling and maintaining statistics, athletic website, social media, video/webcasting, adherence to NCAA rules and regulations, and general administrative duties.  Proficiency in keeping statistics during contests and post-game video skills are encouraged.

The Graduate Assistant will be responsible for supporting the philosophy, goals and Mission of both the college and its Athletic program as well as adherence to departmental, university, and NCAA policies and procedures. The coaching staff members will be evaluated for the extent to which coaches are providing a positive meaningful educational experience for student-athletes leading to their graduation and the extent to which they have established a sport culture in which he/she is viewed by the student-athlete(s) as a mentor, educator and role model as well as competitive success.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to: serving as the lead administrator/head coach when the head coach is unavailable; recruiting and retention of student-athletes; contributing to the academic success of the student-athletes, practice and game preparation; scouting; fundraising; assist with athletic department events including community service; working closely with other department coaches and administrators responsible for rules compliance, athletic training, strength & conditioning, media relations, etc., to ensure the highest quality program possible for the student-athletes; other duties as assigned.

NCAA Rules Compliance: The Sports Information GA will be responsible for knowledge of, and adherence to, NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to recruiting, eligibility, and general operation of the program.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor Degree. Experience in media relations, social media management, website management, statistics and video, plus an understanding of NCAA Division III Rules Compliance is required. Excellent organization and communication skills necessary. First Aid, AED and CPR certifications, or willingness to secure certifications upon hiring. Must have a valid driver’s license and be available to drive team vans when needed.
