Carson-Newman University, an NCAA Division II institution located in Jefferson City, Tenn., invites applications for the position of Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant. The graduate assistant is a full-time position who will work in conjunction with Carson-Newman’s athletic department, and will assist the Associate AD for Athletic Communications with publicity efforts for the University’s 21 sponsored athletic programs. The graduate assistant in athletic communications will maintain compliance of Carson-Newman University, South Atlantic Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. 

In the past, this position has been responsible for media relations coverage for Carson-Newman’s women’s soccer, swimming and tennis programs.

Compensation includes competitive stipend and full graduate tuition waiver.   

Bachelor’s degree required; Admission into Carson-Newman University graduate program required; minimum of one years’ experience in intercollegiate athletic communications/sports information work/sports broadcasting preferred;

Strong knowledge of Statcrew, Genius or PrestoStats preferred.

Knowledge of, or willingness to learn Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop; ability to work nights, weekends and holidays; strong oral and written communication and organizational skills; valid driver’s license required. Play-by-play experience; video or audio editing experience a plus, but not required.  Must have willingness to support the Mission and Core Values of the University.
