Assistant Director of Media Relations
The Coastal Carolina University Athletic Media Relations Office, NCAA Division I institution, is accepting applications for the full-time position of Assistant Director of Media Relations. The staff currently consists of three other full-time staff members, one ten-month intern, and student workers.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for all pre and postgame communications with local, regional and national media from designated sports. Including: production of game notes, event previews, event recaps and general press releases promoting program.
- Serve as traveling media relations contact with designated sports.
- Develop and update the official athletic department website, including but not limited to student-athlete/ coach/staff biographies, press releases and statistical information for designated sports.
- Production of publications for designated sports to include fact books and game programs.
- Supervision of staff and activities for home events of designated sports, including game staff, setup and operations of press area.
- Responsible for submitting weekly conference and/or NCAA reports.
- Scheduling interview requests for coaches and student-athletes for designated sports.
- Supervision and instruction of interns and student workers.
- Perform duties associated with coverage of remaining sports in a 19-sport NCAA Division I athletic program as directed by Assistant AD/Media Relations.
- Provide assistance to the marketing department to include, but not limited to, development of press releases, social media graphics, posts, etc. for revenue generating initiatives as directed.
- Represent Coastal Carolina University at conference, regional and national meetings and organizations that promote coaches and student-athletes.
- Comply with policies, procedures and the University’s Code of Ethical Conduct.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant AD for Media Relations, Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics and University Recreation or designee.
Requirements: bachelor’s degree is required. At least two (2) years media relations/sports information experience at the collegiate level (may include internships and graduate student work time) is preferred.
