The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Director of Athletics Communications. The Director of  Athletic Communications is responsible for assisting in promoting a positive image, both internally and externally, of the University's 13-sport NCAA intercollegiate athletics program through press releases, publications, web pages and various media outlets. This position requires extreme accuracy, excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and the ability to pay special attention to detail. Incumbent is frequently away from assigned work desk/phone due to official UNG work responsibilities or travel and requires real time communication with others. 

• Serves as the primary media contact for all external facing communication and coverage of the department¿s 13 intercollegaite sports.
• Produces statistical reports, nominations, historical achieves and other report requirements for the NCAA, PBC, intercollegiate opponents, various periodicals, journals and magazines, major television networks, national wire services.
• Primary content generator for UNGAthletics.com
• Executive producer of the Nighthawk Sports Network: a comprehensive location for live video, live statistics and live audio platform. Provide oversight of technical events taff comprised of students, interns and the UNG Communication, Media, Journalism class program.
• Assists Associate AD, External Operations with brand strategy with all media properties: UNGAthletics.com, Digital Marketing Strategy, Nighthawk Sports Network, social media and outside vendors
• Duties as assigned by Director of Athletics.

• Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
• One year of job experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must be willing to obtain certifications in CPR/First Aid 

• Ability to make frequent trips to locations outside of the University area.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to accurately write, edit and/or develop articles, reports, and publications. Ability to organize and coordinate athletic events. Ability to organize and multi-task. Ability to pay special attention to detail.
• Ability to accurately use statistics and statistical programs (Stat Crew).
• Ability to use various office machines (copier, fax, scanner, digital camera, etc.) Ability to follow AP style guidelines.
• Ability to work evening and weekends in preparation for and during athletic events. High ethical standards and ability to work with diverse faculty, staff, students,  parents and other publics.
• Knowledge of all areas of sports journalism (including television, radio, and print media) required.
• Extensive knowledge and use of Stat Crew software, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal, teamwork and organizational skills.
