The Sun Belt Conference is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable professional to serve as the Director of Communications & Branding. The position will serve under the guidance of the Senior Associate Commissioner/Chief Communications and Branding Officer for the conference, headquartered in New Orleans, La.
The Director of Communications & Branding is the primary contact for Volleyball, Cross Country, Indoor T&F, Outdoor T&F and Men’s & Women’s Tennis. Areas of focus will include, but are not limited to, writing press releases, drafting social media posts, developing website content, updating record books & utilizing additional communications skillsets to help increase brand awareness, broaden fan engagement and expand the conference's visibility.
Major Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary conference communications contact for Volleyball, Cross Country, Indoor T&F, Outdoor T&F and Men’s & Women’s Tennis.
- Draft copy and creative for press releases, publications and promotional material.
- Maintain and regularly update conference schedules, statistics and records.
- Developing conference website content—both written and visual.
- Assist in the creation of a strong identity for championships and other conference events.
- Assist with Football 365 and other key football communications campaigns.
- Assist in the implementation of the conference's social media strategy across multiple platforms, including but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
- Assist with the marketing and promotion of Sun Belt Conference championship events.
- Travel to Sun Belt Conference championship events for Volleyball, Cross Country, Basketball, Indoor T&F, Outdoor T&F and Men’s & Women’s Tennis and other sports as assigned to serve as the primary or secondary communications contact.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Three years of related experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Significant experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and StatCrew.
- Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others and be a good listener.
- Exude professionalism in all communications and activities.
- Maintain a positive attitude and a high level of enthusiasm.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving skills.
- Uphold a high degree of discretion dealing with confidential information.
- Ability to travel.
